Hey everyone and happy BIKE MONTH!

Why are we always so excited about bikes? Well they’re amazing machines and fun to ride, but mainly it’s because they are key to making cities better. You can read more about this idea here and here. Tuesday’s 6:00pm City Council meeting will likely involve a proclamation of bike month and it may be worth being there for that part (at the beginning of the meeting). We hope that you’ll join us in celebrating the bicycle this month whether or not you ride.

But if you do like to ride, our friends at Lillördag have put together a whole bunch of fun upcoming group rides for you! Follow them on Instagram for details. And see our CMABS bike month calendar here.

SAVE THE DATE

It’s time to meet again! We’ve reserved the Adams Room at the Donald Dungan Library for Monday, May 19th from 6pm to 8pm. Please join us in person as we brainstorm on how best to keep up the momentum for better streets in the city. We have a board that keeps this organization alive and moving, but the intent is for CMABS to be a “place” where like-minded people can connect and work on this issue together. Do you have an issue, a question, or an idea in mind that you want to share? Do you have a problematic street that you have a solution for? Have you been reading our newsletters for years but never met any of us? Come join us in this casual setting to talk about our streets, meet your neighbors, and to have a bite to eat (last time we had pizza 🍕)!

We have a FREE on-demand ride share system in Costa Mesa? This was launched last fall thanks to a grant from the State’s Clean Mobility Options program. Here is our Active Transportation Coordinator Brett Atencio Thomas explaining how it works.
