NMUSD is banning e-bikes. Here's how to respond.

NMUSD is banning e-bikes. Here is how you can make your voice heard

The Newport Mesa Unified School District Board of Education is moving to ban all e-bikes for middle schoolers and Class 2 and Class 3 e-bikes for high schoolers. It also wants all bicycle riders to be forced to register their bicycles and sign onerous waivers to park their bicycles on campus.

You can access the proposed policy by clicking this link: Proposed NMUSD E-Bike Policy

You can also access the board agenda containing this policy by clicking this link. The e-bike policy is Item 21: NMUSD Board of Education Agenda for Tuesday, April 21

If this policy passes, the vast majority of e-bikes ridden to campus today will be banned. Here's how to weigh in before they vote.

Time-sensitive: The board meets Monday, April 21, 2026 at 6:00 pm. Written comments should be sent as soon as possible — the deadline is the meeting itself.
