Action Alert! “Cruise the Loop” THIS SUNDAY in Costa Mesa’s First On-Street Community Event!

Join CMABS for a partial-open streets bicycling event this Sunday, April 12 on Mesa Verde Drive East!

Need some weekend plans? We’ve got you covered!

This Sunday, April 12th, join the Costa Mesa Alliance for Better Streets and the City of Costa Mesa for a very exciting community festival all along Mesa Verde Drive East. For the duration of event on Sunday, the City will close the outside lane to cars and provide a wider space for biking, scooting, and rolling in golf carts — as far as we know, this is the first time we’ve done that!

The city is hoping that participants will look at the corridor in a new way and provide their thoughts on how this re-imagined Mesa Verde Drive could enhance safety, connectivity, and accessibility in our community. Nobody is better at that than our members, so we hope we can see you there.

The event kicks off at 10:00am and will run until 1:00pm. The route will be on Mesa Verde Drive East between Baker Street and Harbor Boulevard. Two activity hubs along the route will offer a bike rodeo, live music, carnival games, a face painter, health and wellness kiosks, bicycle and golf cart showcases, kids arts and crafts, and more. CMABS will have a booth and we will be talking to residents about how to make our streets better — if you want to help with that, please reach out and let us know! We would love to hang with you.

At the moment the event is rain or shine, but stay tuned for updates as we get a better sense of the weather this weekend.

See you on Sunday!

That’s all for now!
